Hello, my name is Grace Thompson of Butterfly Hope and this is the audio described version of the handout given to you by me. On the handout are three sections, and we will be going through them in this video.

On screen now is the first section. In the centre is the logo of Butterfly Hope: A butterfly seen from the side, with hope written on its wing. Underneath is the text Butterfly Hope. To either side of the logo are different pieces of the logo with text boxes. We will be zooming in on each of them to explain them closer.

At the bottom of this section is the quote “You already have your wings, choose your colours and learn to fly”.

We are now zooming in on the top left corner of the section. In the top right of the screen is the butterfly from the logo, and there is a text box with the text “Butterfly: A symbol of change and transformation”.

Next we zoom down to the textbox below. To the right of this is just the body of the butterfly, which is made up of a semicolon. The dot on the semicolon has two antennae. The text box says “Semicolon: Disability is not the end of the story”.

Now we zoom across the section to the right hand side. On the left side of the screen is the word “Hope” underlined. Together the circles in the “o” and the “p” form the infinity symbol. The text box reads “Hope: I see a need and I have hope for a better future”.

The video now zooms down to the last text box with the isolated infinity symbol on the left. The text box reads “Infinity symbol: Neurodiversity”.

The video pans across to the logo in the centre, where the different elements come together to form the logo of Butterfly Hope.

The video then zooms back out to show the first section again, with the logo in the middle and the explanations on either side.

Next the video changes to a timeline, across the screen is a line with different points, as text boxes, coming off above and below it. The QR code for this website is in the bottom right corner, and across the bottom are my contact details, which I will read out at the end of this video.
The timeline is a suggestion for young people wanting to start their own business.

The video zooms in on the first step, which is “Start small”.
Next it pans to “Identify passion”, before it moves on to “Find safe spaces”.
The fourth point on the timeline is “Volunteer”, followed by “Branding”, and lastly “Find and seize opportunities”.

The video then zooms back out to the overview of the timeline.

Next the video goes to the second page of the handout, which is entitled “Becoming Disability Confident”. The large overview shows my contact details on the bottom, again, I will mention those at the end of the video. The rest of the screen has five text boxes across it, with a pyramid shape behind them showing their relationship. The video will now go through each text box.

The video goes from the bottom of the pyramid to the top, starting with a text box saying “The basics: Wheelchair access, BSL interpreters, Changing places toilets, visual information, accessible websites, assistance dog access, flexible working, sensory accommodations and many more.”

The next part of the pyramid says “Safe environment for all: Culture of flexibility and openness to be able to hear and understand and do what you can to enable all to thrive. Implementing universal design practices is one way of doing this.”

We then get to “Moving from inclusion to belonging: Moving beyond access and accessibility. Evolving into relationships where it moves from obligation to desire to see change and enable all.”

Then “Seeing value in all: Understanding and truly believing that every person has innate value and does not have to meet an arbitrary level before they are of value to society as a whole.”

At the top of the pyramid is “Balanced and purposeful life: Enabling all to have fulfilled lives with opportunities for fun and work being available to everyone and having opportunities to find and follow your passion.”

Finally the video moves back out to the overview of the pyramid, with my contact details on the bottom. I am Grace Thompson, you can find me on my website, butterflyhope.org.uk or you can email me on [email protected]. Thank you for listening to and watching this video.
