Grace made an excellent contribution to CFT’s Youth Conference demonstrating a high degree of professionalism and integrity throughout the whole process, from planning through to co-hosting a panel discussion with a group of professional theatre makers.

She collaborated brilliantly with Aimee Massey, (CFT’s Diversity, Change and Inclusion Consultant) as she co-hosted the panel discussion and confidently posed some excellent provocations to the panellists; Grace was able to highlight intersections between mental health and disability, adding an important perspective to the conversations. Her contribution was one that affirmed the feelings of other young people.

Grace is fearless about drawing on her own lived experience of disability to connect with others and she is extremely positive and confident in her approach to relevant conversations.

During lunch and the series of afternoon workshops, Grace continued to engage and network effectively with other young people and adults, demonstrating her commitment to the importance of ensuring that the power of youth voice is heard.

Thank you very much for inviting me to your celebration of International Women’s Day on Tuesday.  A very interesting evening – I thought the panel was diverse, intelligent, fascinating, and thought provoking.  In particular I admired Grace for her courage, humour, intelligence, and general passion for her subject.

Judging by the incredible resilience, articulate performance and intelligence of the youngest member of the panel last night (Grace) , I’m not sure the younger generation need that (mentoring)!’

Grace is a thoroughly entertaining and engaging speaker who communicates her life story with real passion and enthusiasm.  She describes her own personal journey with candour, articulacy and humour.   I was moved and inspired in equal measure!  I would encourage all young people, both neurotypical and neurodivergent, to make time to listen to Grace and discover what can be achieved with the sort of unwavering determination that she has deployed throughout her life.

I just want to say that was an amazing presentation and you should be very proud – Thank you Grace!  That was lovely to hear about how passionate you are about empowering others.

I am in a place of constantly having to advocate for myself. Grace your ‘hard won’ wisdom about communication, advocating and building a safe support team really gave me some clear direction. Dealing with health services has been very invalidating in the past-but your recommendations and attitude have inspired me to keep persisting.

Client

Hello Grace.  You are so amazing and so inspiring for others.  I would never have thought that ‘autism’ AND ‘disability’ such as yours can be within one person.  I learnt so much from you as you show determination and strength beyond your years – so much to carry for one so young.  Your message is very clear and important – that communication and relationships are built on respect from all sides and a strong support system is developed.  Grace, you have so much knowledge that will help others to feel that they can do what you do too.  The biggest best wishes for you.

Client

Grace, as person with autism, with a number of health conditions, thank you for speaking about accessibility and understanding with mental health, social service and physical health professions.  I am totally isolated, rather given up.  My way of coping, but totally get what you are talking about.  Nice to hear things I experience from someone else.

Client

Grace thank you. I would like to say even though I do not come from a care or support background (. . .),  I am a retail manager. Your honest and clear presentation has given me new clarity on how I can better develop, support and empower the volunteers with complex needs that I support at the shop. (. . .) Thanks again

Client

Thanks for highlighting the importance of listening for supporters who are helping people to self advocate. Not to project their own feelings and opinions as we are not you.
